Diamond Grades
There are several different grades of diamonds based on the 4 Cs; Cut, Clarity, Color & Carat Weight. Cut is the way the diamond is shaped. Clarity is judged by the diamond's transparency. Color is the hue of the diamond. Carat weight is how much the diamond weighs.
A diamond's cut is an important factor in the value of a diamond. You don't want it too deep or too shallow. For clarity, there are a few generally accepted grades: FL, IF = Flawless & Internally Flawless; VVS1, VVS2 = Very, Very Slightly Included; VS1, VS2 = Very Slightly Included; SI1, SI2 = Slightly Included; I1, I2, I3 = Included. Color & Carat are up to the diamond shopper's discretion.
